Corner of Darlinghurst Road and Macleay Street, the El Alamain Fountain in Fitzroy Gardens Kings Cross
was designed by Robert Woodward, it opened in 1961 as a memorial to the Australian Forces to
commemorate the battle of El Alamain. The fountain is a outstanding work of modernist design which
evokes a huge Dandelion of water.
